Kaspersky: Russia leads by stalkerware-hit users number in Jan–Jun

MOSCOW, Aug 7 (PRIME) -- Russia led by the number of people faced stalkerware in smartphones in January–June, antivirus maker Kaspersky said late on Thursday in a statement.

“The number of users whose mobile devices got stalkerware rose by 28% in Russia in the first six months of 2020 in comparison to the same period of 2019. Besides, according to the company’s data, Russia led by the number of people who faced such programs,” Kaspersky said.

On the global scale, the number of users who faced stalkerware rose by 39% on the year in January–June. In Europe, such software was most registered on devices in Germany, Italy, and the U.K.

Stalkerware allows hackers to secretly spy on people’s location, get access to personal photos and videos, e-mails, SMSs, and texts in messengers, among others.
